Three weeks from tomorrow it will be groundhogs day, and three weeks from tomorrow our little guy is scheduled to arrive via C-section at 9:30 AM in the morning. So unless he decides to arrive early, that’s when his birthday will be – on groundog’s day! My sister suggested that surely he will be much cuter than a groundhog and not quite as hairy! Ben, of course is thinking comically as well, for he said, and I quote, (referring to baby) “I wonder if he’ll see his shadow when he pops out!”
I can’t believe that after all of this time, we’re so close to having our dreams come true with regards to becoming a mom and dad! It was a year ago this month that I testified in church about how the Lord was faithful even in the midst of our struggles with infertility, and now, a year later, we’re about to have a newborn son. Who would have thought that after our adoption agency went bankrupt God would bring Wendy into our lives? He certainly is full of surprises. I never dreamed I’d get to actually bring home a newborn. I can remember saying that various times before these turn of events came about, “If I could just get to experience a baby at least one day…Is that too much to ask?”
Wendy is always on my mind, but as the day approaches, my heart aches for her even more. She has demonstrated such a strength of character Now as the date approaches, she and I are both getting more nervous and excited!
Here are some things to be praying for:
1. Wendy’s health – She had a brief fainting spell today and has opted not to drive until after the baby is born. The account of it is somewhat amusing, but we do want her to not have any unnecessary falls etc.
2. Wendy’s delivery and recovery – that things will go well with the C-section, that she’ll have a “speedy” recovery, and that while we’re both in the hospital God will bless our time and give us both strength to deal with all of the emotions involved.
3. Social Development – We haven’t been assigned a case worker, and in order for things to progress we need one. All of our paperwork is finished. We’re just waiting for someone to make contact with us. Also pray that since we have already had an International home study that things will progress quicker.
4. Legal Matters – Our lawyers are both trying to work out our individual needs and rights. Pray that things won’t be more complicated or cause unnecessary friction.
God continues to be faithful in these matters. Thank you so much for the messages you’ve been e-mailing us, the phone calls, and most importantly – your prayers! I will do my best to update things more regularly in the coming weeks. I know I’m notorious for saying that, but you’ve all been so good to us – the least I can do is try to keep you posted on our preparations. The count down is on!!
